Mike Portnoy adalah mantan drummer kelompok musik Dream Theater. Dream Theater adalah panutan utama di scene progressive metal dunia. Terbentuk pada tahun 1986, band ini jarang berganti personel dan keluarnya Mike Portnoy menjadi orang ke tiga personel asli yang hengkang dengan sebelumnya ada vokalis Charles Dominici dan keyboardist Kevin Moore.
